What to expect at your SMP sessions
A full SMP treatment usually takes three sessions, one to two weeks apart. Here's what happens at each stage, from your first consultation to your final result.
Before you book: the consultation
We look at your hair loss, talk about the look you want and check your health history. We'll design a hairline that suits your face and age, agree the price, and answer your questions. You'll fill in a medical questionnaire beforehand.
Session one: shape and foundation
Your hairline is drawn on and agreed with you in the mirror. Then a light first layer of pigment goes in to set the shape. It's deliberately soft, because the next sessions build on it.
Session two: density
About one to two weeks later, we add more dots in different sizes and tones. This is where the result starts to look like real, close-cut hair.
Session three: depth and detail
The final session fills any gaps and adds the variation that makes SMP look natural up close and in daylight.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful. The needle works much more shallowly than a normal tattoo, and we take breaks whenever you need them. Some areas, such as the crown and hairline, can feel more sensitive.
How long does each session take?
Usually 2 to 4 hours, depending on the area.
After each session
Your scalp will look red for a day or two. Follow the aftercare steps, which mainly mean keeping your scalp dry, clean and out of the sun while it settles.
