Scalp micropigmentation

When do bookings open?

We'll email the waitlist as soon as dates are confirmed, before they're announced anywhere else.

Where are you?

Milton Keynes. You'll get the full address when you book.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe it as uncomfortable rather than painful, and you can take a break whenever you need one.

How long does it last?

Many years. It softens slowly over time, so most people have a top-up every few years.

Will it look natural?

Done well, yes. Dots are layered in different sizes and shades, and your hairline is designed to suit your face and age.

Do I need to shave my head?

For the full look, yes. SMP copies a close-cut head of hair, so most clients keep it buzzed. If you're having density work, you can keep your hair longer.

Can it be removed?

It's designed to last, but it can be lightened or removed with laser tattoo removal if you ever need to.

Is SMP right for me?

It suits most kinds of hair loss, but not everyone. Your free consultation is where you'll get an honest answer before you commit to anything.

Is this what I'll look like?

No. The planner shows an illustration to help you understand your treatment, not a prediction of your result. Your real result depends on your hair, your skin and the hairline we design together at your consultation.

What do the stages mean?

They're based on the Norwood scale, the standard way of describing male pattern hair loss, from slight recession at the temples (stage 2) to hair only at the sides and back (stage 7).

Beard SMP

Do you do beard SMP?

Yes. Beard SMP uses the same technique as scalp micropigmentation to fill patchy or thin beards, join a moustache to the beard and sharpen beard lines. Read about beard SMP.

Does beard SMP look like real hair?

From a normal distance it reads as stubble. It's pigment in the skin rather than hair, so it suits a short or trimmed beard best.

Can I still grow my beard?

Yes. Your beard grows as normal. Kept short, the pigment fills the gaps. Grown longer, your own hair covers it.

Will it match my beard colour?

We match the pigment to your beard at your consultation. It works best on brown and black beards. Grey, ginger and blonde beards are harder to match, and we'll tell you honestly if it won't look right.

When can I shave again?

Leave the treated area for about a week after each session. After that, shave or trim as normal.

How much is beard SMP?

From £400 for patch filling and £600 for a full beard, over 2 sessions. Your price is confirmed at your free consultation.

Hair loss support

Who can have the support rate?

Anyone aged 18 or over who has lost hair through cancer treatment, alopecia or another medical condition. If you're not sure it applies to you, ask us.

Do I need to prove it?

We'll ask for a short note or letter from your oncologist, specialist nurse, GP or dermatologist that confirms what caused your hair loss and says you're well enough for SMP. It keeps you safe, and it's all we need. Download a form they can fill in.

I'm having chemotherapy now. Can I book?

Not yet. SMP isn't suitable during treatment, and your hair may well grow back once it ends. Message us whenever you like, and we'll talk again when you're ready.

My hair grew back differently. Can SMP help?

Often, yes. Hair can come back thinner, softer or a different colour after treatment. SMP adds density so less scalp shows through, with pigment matched to your hair.

Can SMP cover a scar?

Usually, once it has fully healed and your medical team is happy. Skin that has had radiotherapy can heal differently, so we may start with a small test area.

Is it the same treatment?

Yes. The same practitioner, pigment, sessions and aftercare. The only difference is the price.

Can I use it with other offers?

No. The support rate can't be combined with the waitlist discount or a model place.

Is what I tell you kept private?

Yes. Only the people involved in your care see it. We never share it, and we'll only ever use photos of your treatment with your written consent.

Bookings and payment

Is there a form to fill in?

Yes, a short consultation and medical form. You can print it at home and bring it with you, or fill it in when you arrive.

How do I book?

Bookings open soon. Join the waitlist and we'll email you first when dates are released.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

A £100 deposit secures an SMP booking and comes off the price of your treatment. For other treatments, we'll tell you the deposit when you book.

Do I pay everything up front?

No. The rest of your price is split across your sessions and paid at each one, by card or bank transfer.

Can I change my appointment?

Yes, with at least 48 hours' notice. Your deposit moves to the new date.

What if I'm not happy with my result?

Tell us. We'll review it with you and, where we can, put it right.

The clinic

When do you open?

Scalp micropigmentation launches first, and bookings open soon. The other treatments follow when the clinic opens. The waitlist hears first.

Where are you?

Milton Keynes. You'll get the full address when you book.

Who carries out the treatments?

SMP is carried out by Alfie Wedlake, our Lead SMP Specialist. As the clinic opens, each new treatment will be carried out by a practitioner qualified and insured for it, and medical treatments by a registered nurse or doctor.

Do I need a consultation?

Yes. Every treatment starts with a consultation, so we can check it's suitable for you and agree a price before anything is booked. For SMP it's free.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. All our treatments are for adults aged 18 and over.

Do you help people who've lost hair through cancer treatment?

Yes. SMP is 70% off for anyone who has lost hair through cancer treatment, alopecia or another medical condition. See hair loss support.

Can I rent a room at Blackline?

We're looking for specialists to join the clinic. See work with us.
